guys.. this was recently posted by thor of AGL regarding the NETC games last may 9 and 10...sobrang nagenjoy daw sila to play with NAG and SMAG and syempre sa site natin....
ito ung post nila...........................
For over a year, we've been trying to go back to the NETC having had one of the wildest good times ever! Finally, after months of planning and preps--plus an attempted sabotage by "dark lords"--we were finally back!
But the trip was not without its minor snags...
D-minus-1, Friday, 08 May 2009
The day was almost chaotic as problems cropped up with the carpooling and we had to abort going as advance party earlier in the day.
We had agreed to take the last trip out to Iba, Zambales and at the last minute, Mylene who had agreed to go with us had trouble taking a cab and ended up going with the early Saturday convoy.
2330H: Xtian, Pierre and I had no choice but to take the last trip out as the first morning trip would be at 0500H which would be next to useless if we were to go as advance party.
The only snag to this was that we were STANDING all the way from Pasay terminal to Olongapo City!!!
D-Day, Saturday, 09 May 2009
0305H: After what seemed an eternity, we finally arrive at the gate of the NETC. It was drizzling and we would've attempted to walk all the way to the main sentry gate but we
decided not to as we would find out that the stretch of road was too long even for the tricycles that ply the route.
We took photos of us monkeying around the guard post in the rain and I sent an SMS to Maj. Torres that we were on the ground. Luckily, he was awake and came over to extract us.
0330H: We were checked into our little cottage and we were amazed at how plush the accommodations were--AC, fridge and running hot water! We were laughing our asses off about the trip we just did and we realized we were depriving ourselves of much needed sleep. We tried to get some shut eye before the rest of the team arrived later in the morning.
0725H: I awoke as the major was knocking on our door. We took a brief tour of the base and we saw that the convoy had already arrived. We checked out the Savannah and took mental notes of how we were to make this area playable the next time we come back.
0840H: We take breakfast and saddle up for the day ahead. We were introduced to some of the Marines from the NETC Airsoft Group(NAG) and the civilian players from the San Marcelino Airsoft Group(SMAG).
1000H: Game on!!!
1230H: Our NAG friends treat us to a boodle fight lunch. After getting stuffed, I leave the table and lo and behold, BT stays to do "mop-up" operations on the dining table!
1340H: Games resume. We were just happy to be there at the CQB play site. After so many games, I decided to call it quits having taken "friendly fire" to the back of my head(which turned out to be a bleeder but nothing serious.)
1735H: We call it a day. Marched back to the cottage like we did earlier in the day. Freshened up and headed for the poolside party.
1930H: We had a few drinks with the Marines and the SMAG. Exchanged war stories over a few beers. The SMAG team leader expressed his disbelief that they actually played with
the oldest airsoft group in the Philippines--and possibly, the world! At that particular moment, I was really proud to be part of the team and was simply thankful that I had been able to come back and play again.
0023H: Having had our fill at the pool party, we head back to the cottage but I really wasn't drunk enough or so I felt. Had a few more beers in the room with the gang, told a
few more jokes and basically laughed about everything we felt like. Sometime in between, everyone felt the need to sleep but I was just so elated and decided to stick around with Trish until around 0400H before I finally passed out on the bed.
D-plus-1, 10 May 2009
0830H: Xtian and I decide to go for breakfast and see the major who was waiting for us at the staging area close to the CQB play site. That day, I was hellbent on playing the
jungle as that was what I specifically came for. Admittedly, CQC(Close-Quarters Combat)isn't my game and I had wanted to get mud on my fatigues.
1000H: After much deliberation, the gang finally agreed to play again despite the exhaustion from the previous day. Honestly, I was actually worried that no one would come out to play and the jungle would be too wide an expanse for only a handful of players.
1100H: With my head swimming in alcohol, I fight the urge to just doze off and instead did my best to keep the kids on their toes. The day was getting warmer and my fatigues
had already been soaked just by checking out the jungle play site. From this point on, I would lose all sense of time as the game was all I was focused on.
And play we did! The last game was to be my most memorable having come from such an intense FTX with the Army, I knew I had to surpass JTX5 in the "fun meter". The game was simple: we had to defend our flag and our base from an assault force.
Wanting to do something different, I climbed the nearest tree I could find and play sniper. I needed a weapon that had enough reach so I borrowed Carlo's M16--a weapon I am
not accustomed to given its overall length and the position I was in.
The gamble actually paid off!
I had never taken so many kills in one position as I had in that tree! I was the last man standing and had successfully defended the flag against the assault force and I had never played a game as intense as I did that day!
...and the mango tree bore the NUMBER 13!
Unfortunately, the adventure had to end and we had our lives to go back to. We had pulled out of NETC having hitched a ride with Lance who drove us all the way to Dau for shopping at the Marina arcade and Lechon Manok for lunch at around 1615H!
But the trip back was as "easy" as the trip coming over. We had to wait close to an hour just to get a bus back but we had no luck as passengers jockeyed for position getting on
board the next trip bound for Manila. We decided to take an "aircontinuous" bus to Cubao. We were zapped but happy.
JTX5 is over but NETC takes the cake!!!
