Sitrep: inside news from the Senate is that the PNP went to Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile to follow-up their bill which was stalled at the Committee on Public Order and Illegal Drugs. The Senate President reportedly gave them a "dressing down lecture" or "sinabonan" daw sila, the reason being that the Senator did not like the bill's proposed increase in penalties, constructive possession (which is Unconstitutional), and practically everything else. Poorly drafted and Palpak daw. hehe!
The news from Senator Gordon, who was asked to sponsor the bill in the Senate, is that he is likewise angry for having been "used". He was made aware of our online petition and what had happened in the House wherein the bill was railroaded, and he stated that "he does not want to be a part of it." hehe!
For all intents and purposes, with the start of the election campaign, the BIG BILL 6776 is now A DEAD BILL.
So at least now, we have asserted our position as a major lobbying force against similar such moves in the future. Mabuhay ang PROGUN! Mabuhay ang UAA! at Mabuhay tayong lahat!
